Ms. Lydia
Hidden Bee Learning & Hidden Bee Farm
Columbia, Tennessee
Hi, I’m Lydia!
Most of the children just call me Lyds, and honestly, I love it. I joined Hidden Bee Learning two years ago as a Teacher’s Aide, and about a year ago I stepped into my role as the Pathfinders Teacher. Getting to grow into that here, with this team and these kids, has meant more to me than I can really say.
I am very much a get-on-the-floor kind of teacher. You will find me on my stomach playing games, wearing a ridiculous hat if that is what the moment calls for, and fully in it with the children. I do not teach from across the room. I believe kids learn best when they feel comfortable and included, and that is what I show up trying to create every single day.
The Pathfinders kids are curious and full of energy. My job is to meet them right there and make learning feel like something they actually want to do, not something that just happens to them while they sit still.

Farm AnimalsHelps care for the rescue animals at Hidden Bee Farm alongside classroom duties

Playful LearningBrings humor, silliness, and genuine fun into the classroom without losing the focus
The Farm, the Pigs, and Beyond
Outside the classroom, I also help with the rescue animals at Hidden Bee Farm. I have a pretty deep love for animals in general, but if I’m being honest, pigs are my thing. My favorite is Poppy, and I am one of the very few people she fully lets in. I do not take that lightly.
When I am not at Hidden Bee, I am probably camping or traveling with my husband and our two sons, hanging out with family and friends, or watching Ohio State football with a level of investment my husband says is entirely reasonable and everyone else disagrees with.
Pig Enthusiast
One of the few people Poppy the pig fully trusts. This is not a small thing.

Loves getting outdoors and exploring with her husband and two sons
Family First
Time with family and friends is where she recharges and feels most at home
Ohio State Football
A dedicated Buckeyes fan. Do not schedule anything important on game day.
