Embroidery Basics

Class Description:

In this 2-hour session, children will discover the joy of transforming thread and fabric into art. We will explore fundamental embroidery stitches and techniques, culminating in each participant crafting a delightful, self-stitched flower piece. This class is more than just learning – it’s about nurturing creativity, boosting confidence, and finding joy in the art of making. By the end of the session, you will have absorbed valuable knowledge, practiced new skills, and discovered the fun of creating your own embroidery piece!

As a keepsake of your embroidery adventure, you’ll take home a charming self-stitched flower piece. This experience serves as a stepping stone to a creative hobby that can bring joy for years to come.

Age Group: Ages 7 and up

Duration: 2 Hours

Location: Hidden Bee Farm/ Hidden Bee Learning

Price: $20 per participant

Available Dates: June 28th or June 30th

Times: 12:30 pm – 2:30 pm


What We Provide:

  • Essential embroidery tools include an embroidery hoop, vibrant threads, fabric, needles, scissors, and a safety thimble.
  • A fun, kid-friendly learning environment that brings the craft of stitching to life.
  • Hands-on, personalized instruction to guide each participant in creating their unique flower embroidery piece.

Class Schedule:

This class schedule is a flexible guide. We appreciate the uniqueness of each child’s learning pace and style, and we’re always ready to adapt to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable learning experience for all.

1. Welcome and Introduction (0 – 10 minutes): We start by getting to know each other and discussing our class objectives.

2. Introduction to Tools and Materials (10 – 30 minutes): Participants will become familiar with embroidery tools and materials, setting the stage for a safe and confident start.

3. Mastering Basic Stitches (30 – 60 minutes): This segment offers a hands-on experience with fundamental embroidery stitches like the running stitch, back stitch, satin stitch, chain stitch, and the French knot.

4. Creating Your Flower Piece (60 – 105 minutes): Participants will then apply their newfound skills to create a lovely flower piece, with the instructor providing guidance throughout.

5. Finishing and Care Tips (105 – 120 minutes): We’ll end by discussing how to care for the embroidered piece and sharing ideas for future embroidery projects.


Important Note:

As we’ll be stitching under the warm Tennessee sun, we recommend bringing along a water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the class. We do have fans to ensure a cool learning environment, but having your water at hand is a smart move.
